NY state dui and possession misdemeanors?

just a couple days ago i was pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana which are both misdemeanors. something about the whole situation seems weird though, but anyways i was pulled over driving around at 2 in the morning to go to a friends house. they claimed they had pulled me over just because they suspected i was the person causing a disturbance at this one building just because i had come from that direction. but the cop smelled weed in the car and claimed my eyes were red. after searching my car they found less than a dime bag of weed and my buddies pipe who was with me. i have to attend court next wednesday but i have gotten several different opinions on what i should do. i have been told to plead not guilty to the dui charge to get it reduced but just plead guilty for the possession. then others will tell me to fight both of them, while my dad says to plead guilty to both. i guess im just looking for some solid advice on what i should do, i should also mention i am 21 and they gave me a sobriety test which i passed with flying colors.
