Child visitation please help?

I stopped seeing my child by choice when she was 14 months. I don't talk with the mother - we hate each other. My child is now 5yrs & i want to start getting involved. If i take her to court & granted visitation, will i start taking the child to mine straight away? Also I'm not on birth certificate, does it matter?
