Need help choosing a sci-fi novel to study?

Robert A. Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" is a good choice. He retells the story of the American Revolution in a different setting; going into issues such as forms of government, natural rights, marriage customs. This book is a richer source of themes than "Stranger in a Strange Land" and more typical of his other works. His "Friday", "Double Star" and "Starship Troopers" are also good study material.
